I flew to Girona to meet ex-professional racing cyclist David Millar at his home. We spent a day composing this portrait as a photo which I then took the following month to paint.
The image is set in David's home study where he wrote his hugely successful books. The backdrop is full of symbolism, memorabilia and history from his past. The final artwork was auctioned at the Rouleur Classic in London, 2015, and all of the proceeds went to the children's charity Action Medical Research.
